The Dusty Trail to Phortse

Wow there's wifi here?! Yay! Only for a day though :( Anyways, gotta catch up on the past three days then!

Today, October 10th, we hiked to the village of Phortse (3800 metres above sea level). It was a 4 and a half hour hike from Khumjung. We saw many interesting sights along the way! We saw several yaks on the trail, Nepal's national bird (it looks like a colourful pheasant), the oldest Stupa in the Everest region, and mountain goats. The villages higher up in the mountains only get electricity by solar power, and the sun sets much earlier (today was around 6 pm). This meant that we ate our dinner, at 6:30 pm, by candle light and a giant lantern. It was quite a change from the earlier villages we stayed in and how we live in Canada.

Night everyone!
